Bill Gates has publicly acknowledged that he had extramarital relationships with two Russian women during his marriage to Melinda French Gates. He also apologised to staff at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for his past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Gates made the admission during a town hall meeting with foundation employees, describing his decision to spend time with Epstein as a “huge mistake” and expressing regret that it affected the organisation’s work and reputation.
He revealed that the affairs involved a Russian bridge player and a Russian nuclear physicist he met through social and professional circles. Gates strongly denied any involvement in or knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities, stressing that his interactions with Epstein did not involve any of Epstein’s victims.
Gates emphasised that he “did nothing illicit” and has taken responsibility for the impact his past decisions have had on the foundation and its staff.
These revelations come following the release of documents related to Epstein’s activities by U.S. authorities, which have renewed scrutiny of high-profile figures previously connected to him.
