Suspected bandits have attacked a community in Niger State, leaving over 30 people feared dead and several others kidnapped.
The attack happened at a local market in Kabe District, Borgu Local Government Area. Witnesses said the gunmen stormed the market, set it on fire, and carted away food and goods.
Residents said the attackers shot at people who tried to escape and abducted many villagers, especially along roads leading to the Kainji Lake forest area.
The Niger State Police confirmed the incident. According to the police, security agencies have visited the area, and efforts are ongoing to rescue those kidnapped and restore calm.
The incident has thrown the community into mourning and fear, as families search for missing loved ones.
