Political tension is heating up as APC chieftain and former NPDP spokesperson, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, urges the National Assembly to begin impeachment proceedings against President Bola Tinubu over alleged alterations to the recently passed Tax Reform Law.
According to Eze, the alleged changes made after lawmakers passed the bill amount to a serious constitutional breach and a “criminal hijack of the legislative process.”
💼 What Sparked the Uproar?
The Tax Reform Bill — designed to expand Nigeria’s tax base and boost revenue — was passed by both chambers of the National Assembly.
But controversy erupted when Rep. Abdulsammad Dasuki raised alarm during plenary, claiming:

was not the same version lawmakers debated and approved.
He said his legislative rights were violated after comparing:

Eze compared the alleged amendments to a biblical parable, accusing the President of tampering with the bill after lawmakers had completed their work.
He claimed the move distorted the law to suit a personal agenda, calling it gross misconduct and a violation of constitutional order.

Eze further accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of:

He said the alleged secrecy has fueled distrust within the legislature.

Eze insists the President has no constitutional power to alter a bill after passage, warning that:
