Troops Raid Kidnappers’ Hideout in Plateau, Arrest Suspects, Recover Weapons
Troops of 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP) have raided a kidnappers’ hideout near Lantom Village in the Kadarko District of Wase Local Government Area, Plateau State, arresting four suspects and recovering weapons.

According to a statement released on 7 January 2026 by Captain Joshua Atu John, Acting Military Information Officer of JTF OPEP, the operation was carried out on Tuesday, January 6, following credible intelligence aimed at disrupting kidnapping and armed robbery activities in the area.
During the raid, troops recovered a fabricated rifle, an axe and a machete. Preliminary investigations linked the suspects to recent criminal activities in the district, while two accomplices escaped with an AK-47 rifle.

The arrested suspects later disclosed the location of a hidden arms cache and volunteered to lead troops to the site. However, while guiding soldiers to the outskirts of Kadarko, they attempted to disarm a soldier in a bid to escape and were neutralised.

Meanwhile, follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover the missing rifle. The General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander JTF OPEP, Major General EF Oyinlola, commended the troops and urged continued public cooperation to enhance security efforts.
