Rivers Crisis: Fubara Broke Peace Deal Reached With Tinubu ~ Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, of failing to keep to an agreement reached to end the political crisis in the state.

Wike made the allegation on Wednesday while speaking during a thank-you visit to the people of Tai Local Government Area in Rivers State.

According to him, the agreement was reached during a private meeting called by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja in June 2025. The meeting involved both Wike and Fubara and was meant to restore peace after the long political fight in Rivers State.

Wike claimed that Governor Fubara has refused to carry out some parts of the agreement. He said he would soon reveal the full details of what was agreed before the President.

He stressed that the deal was made directly in the presence of President Tinubu and warned that breaking such an agreement shows a lack of sincerity.

The Rivers political crisis had earlier led to serious tension in the state, including the declaration of a state of emergency and the suspension of the governor and members of the State House of Assembly.
