Nigerian singer Portable has reportedly escaped police arrest after an alleged assault on his fourth baby mama, actress Ashabi Simple.
The incident was said to have happened on January 1, 2026, when Ashabi visited Portable’s bar in Ogun State. A video from the scene later went viral online.
In the video, Ashabi was seen holding Portable’s clothes, saying she was tired of being called just a baby mama and wanted to be recognised as his wife. Portable reportedly pushed her and said he only has one wife, Bewaji, adding that other women with children for him are baby mamas.
The argument quickly turned physical, with Ashabi and her siblings later reporting the matter to the police for assault and abuse.
Ashabi later claimed in an Instagram video that when police went to arrest Portable, they only met his pregnant wife, as the singer had already escaped. She accused Portable of slapping her, beating her, seizing their phones, and threatening her siblings with an axe.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians criticizing Ashabi, while others condemned domestic violence.
