Nyesom Wike has hinted on his preferred 2027 governorship candidate for Rivers state

Minister for federal capital territory (FCT), Abuja, Nyesom Wike has hinted on his preferred 2027 governorship candidate for Rivers state. 

 

During his thank-you visit to the Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers state on 3rd of January, 2026, Nyesom Wike while speaking to the crowd, signaled that the current executive director of finance and administration of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), honourable Boma lyaye is his preferred candidate for Rivers gubernatorial election, 2027.

Wike praised honourable Boma lyaye for his long-standing loyalty and commitment to their age-long political comradeship, insinuating that he will right the wrongs of his 2023 decision in Rivers state.

 

 He reiterated that sponsoring governor Siminalayi Fubara’s governorship campaign in 2023 was a grievous mistake which he looks forward to correcting in 2027.
