NIS Upgrades Passport Tracking System, adds “Passport Produced” Alert

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has introduced a new feature to its passport tracking system designed to notify applicants when their passports are ready for collection.

According to the Service, the update—tagged “PASSPORT PRODUCED”—enhances the existing tracking platform by clearly indicating when a passport has been produced and is available for physical pickup or awaiting courier delivery.

In a statement shared on its official X account on Thursday, the NIS said the improvement is aimed at keeping applicants better informed about processing timelines while also boosting overall efficiency in passport administration.

“The new addition, tagged ‘PRODUCED (PASSPORT PRODUCED, READY FOR COLLECTION)’, includes a feature informing applicants when their passports are ready for collection,” the Service stated.

The upgrade is expected to reduce uncertainty and repeated visits to passport offices, offering Nigerians a more transparent and user-friendly application experience.
