NAF Recovers Wreckage of Crashed Combat Drone in Niger State

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recovered the wreckage of its combat drone, NAF-114, which crashed in the Kontagora forest area of Niger State on January 2, 2026.

According to the Air Force, the drone was on a routine operational mission when contact was suddenly lost. All efforts to reconnect with the aircraft failed, forcing it to activate its automatic return-to-base system.

However, the drone could not complete the return process and later crashed within the Operation FASAN YAMMA Sector 3 area.

Following the incident, the NAF quickly launched a joint recovery operation with other security agencies and relevant authorities. The wreckage has now been fully recovered and secured.

The Air Force confirmed that no lives were lost and no civilian property was damaged in the crash. Investigations are currently ongoing to find out the exact cause of the incident.

The Nigerian Air Force reassured Nigerians of its professionalism and commitment to national security, adding that its counter-insurgency operations are not affected by the incident.
