A group of children has discovered a large quantity of live anti-aircraft ammunition in the Bulunkutu area of Maiduguri, Borno State.
The discovery happened on Friday while the children were fishing inside a drainage. They noticed strange objects and quickly alerted security officers.
Security personnel from Sector 9 responded and later rewarded the children for being alert and responsible.
Reports say the items also included power banks, which are suspected to be planned for use in making improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
This incident comes at a time of high security tension in Borno State, especially after a deadly bomb blast on Christmas Eve, blamed on Boko Haram insurgents.
