Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has officially declared his intention to contest the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections — a seat currently occupied by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Making the announcement in Lokoja, Bello said his decision is driven by a desire to continue serving the people of Kogi Central. He pointed to his years as governor (2016–2023), highlighting infrastructural development, education reforms, and empowerment programmes as evidence of his capacity to deliver.
His declaration has instantly ignited political conversations across the state, with analysts predicting a high-stakes and fiercely competitive race. Many observers believe Bello’s entry could significantly reshape the political calculations of both the APC and opposition parties ahead of 2027.
