The Imo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a hotelier, Stanley Morocco Oparaugo, after multiple decomposed and mutilated bodies were uncovered at his privately owned mortuary in Ngor Okpala.
The shocking discovery was made on Saturday, December 6, 2025, during a coordinated security raid aimed at tackling kidnappings, violent crimes, and suspected organ-harvesting activities along the Owerri–Aba Expressway.
According to Police spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye:
“A hotel and a private mortuary owned by the suspect, allegedly used by kidnappers and violent criminals, were inspected. Decomposed and mutilated corpses were found in unhygienic conditions, raising serious suspicion of illegal organ-harvesting operations.”
The operation was led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, alongside the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Chioma Egu, Chief Pathologist Dr. Ibeaja Okechukwu, the Ngor Okpala Vigilante Group, and LGA Chairperson Mrs. Chika Ibekwe.
Following the alarming findings, the State Government ordered the immediate closure of both the hotel and the mortuary. Police confirm that forensic experts have documented evidence from the scene, and investigations are ongoing.
Assuring residents of heightened protection, CP Danjuma pledged:
“All accomplices will be identified and brought to justice. We are working tirelessly to ensure absolute safety along the Owerri–Aba corridor, especially this festive period.”
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies without delay.
