The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed appreciation to members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for gifting him a car, describing the gesture as an expression of love rather than material value. Wike made the remarks in a video posted on YouTube, where he addressed the lawmakers and acknowledged their support amid ongoing political tensions in Rivers State.
Speaking during the event, Wike downplayed the significance of the car itself, stressing that what mattered most was the goodwill behind the gesture. He noted that the lawmakers acted out of loyalty and affection, emphasizing that the gift symbolized solidarity rather than necessity.
According to him, “I don’t know why anybody will think of buying me a car, I don’t know, but that is not the issue. The issue is the spirit, it’s the love they have for you. It’s not as if I cannot afford but for them to have fought back and say yes, we know he has all the cars or he’s likely to have them, we can also contribute to add one more. On behalf of my family and all those who came with me, I want to sincerely thank you Mr Speaker and your colleagues.”
