Nigerian officials and multiple news reports indicate that 16 GPS-guided missiles were launched as part of the U.S.-Nigeria operation targeting Islamic State militant positions in Sokoto State. These munitions were deployed from MQ-9 Reaper drones operating over the region.
The exact cost for the missiles used hasn’t been officially published, but if they were Tomahawk cruise missiles (a type U.S. strikes often use and referenced in some reports), publicly available cost estimates are:
Tomahawk cruise missile unit cost:
- $1.87 million per missile (FY2017 Block IV estimate)
- $1.3 million average in recent U.S. Defence data. (Source:Wikipedia and Reuters)
So a rough cost range for a Tomahawk cruise missile in U.S. service today is about $1 million–$2 million each, depending on variant and production year.
That is 2×16 = 32million dollars ( I million dollars =1.5billion naira ). So 1.5bn ×32= 48billion naira.
So the USA spent about 48 billion naira one night to help Nigeria flush out some bdit.
Now you see that it so expensive to wage this level of war against terr0rists and Nigeria will go broke if they do it alone . This help is needed from the richest country in the world , USA and we should be grateful 🙏.
