COAS Visits Oba of Lagos, Seeks Stronger Collaboration


The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has paid a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty Oba Rilwan Akiolu I, at the Iga Idugaran Palace, seeking deeper cooperation between the Nigerian Army and traditional institutions.

During the visit, General Shaibu expressed appreciation for the Oba’s continuous support to Army formations across Lagos. He noted that the role of traditional rulers remains crucial in maintaining peace, cultural stability, and community engagement, especially as the military intensifies efforts to tackle insecurity nationwide.

The Army Chief appealed for the Oba’s sustained support and blessings, stressing that strong collaboration with traditional authorities enhances public confidence and promotes smoother military operations.

In his response, Oba Akiolu commended the Nigerian Army for its dedication, sacrifices, and unwavering commitment to the stability of the country. He prayed for peace in Nigeria and wished General Shaibu success in his leadership of the Army.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the Army leadership to strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders as the nation continues its fight against terrorism, banditry, and other security challenges.
