AFCON 2025: Tanzania Coach Proud Despite Loss to Super Eagles

Tanzania head coach, Manuel Gomandi, has praised his team’s performance after their 2–1 defeat to Nigeria in their opening AFCON 2025 match on Tuesday.

Gomandi said his players surprised many football fans who expected Tanzania to play defensively against the Super Eagles.

Nigeria got their goals through Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman, scoring in each half to secure their first win of the tournament in Morocco.

Speaking after the match, the Tanzania coach admitted Nigeria had more quality but insisted his team played well.

He said many people thought Tanzania would “park the bus,” but that is not his style of football.

Tanzania must now defeat Uganda in their next Group C match to keep their hopes of staying in the competition alive. Uganda earlier lost 3–1 to Tunisia.
