Nigeria’s Super Eagles have asked the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to increase their bonus package ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Reports say the NFF has already proposed a bonus plan that increases as the team progresses in the tournament. However, the players believe the amount should be higher.
The Super Eagles argue that their demand is fair because the prize money for AFCON has been increased.
Recently, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that the winner of AFCON 2025 will receive $10 million, up from previous editions.
At the 2023 AFCON, host nation Côte d’Ivoire earned $7 million after winning the tournament, while Nigeria went home with $4 million as runners-up.
The players say a bigger prize pool should also reflect in better bonuses for the team.
