AFCON 2025: Four Super Eagles Players Stands Ahead of Uganda Clash

Four key players in the Super Eagles squad could miss Nigeria’s Round of 16 match if they receive a yellow card in today’s AFCON 2025 group game against Uganda.

The players are Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Semi Ajayi, and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali. All of them already have one yellow card and another booking will lead to suspension.

Osimhen, Nigeria’s main striker, may be rested to avoid missing the knockout stage, with Paul Onuachu likely to start instead.

Ademola Lookman, who has scored in Nigeria’s two games so far, is also at risk of suspension.
Defender Semi Ajayi could be replaced with Zaidu Sanusi if the coach decides to avoid taking chances.

Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was booked for time-wasting in the match against Tunisia, and another yellow would rule him out of the next round. Francis Uzoho is ready to step in if needed.

Nigeria has already qualified for the Round of 16 after beating Tanzania 2–1 and Tunisia 3–2. A win against Uganda will give the Super Eagles a perfect nine points in the group stage.
