Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reacted to talks that he plans to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
This comes after presidential posters bearing Makinde’s image recently appeared in parts of Jigawa State, sparking widespread political speculation.
Speaking during a media chat with journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday, Makinde said he is well qualified to lead Nigeria at the highest level.
The governor explained that his experience as a two-term governor places him in a strong position, noting that President Tinubu also served two terms as governor of Lagos State before becoming president.
“I am qualified to serve this country at the highest level. I have run Oyo State. By May 2027, I would have completed two terms as governor,” Makinde said.
He also added that beyond politics, he has strong professional and business experience, having successfully managed a company from a young age.
