Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has opened up about the dark period of her life when she battled a serious kidney pr0blem, revealing that the Lagos State Government under the leadership of then-Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) came to her rescue before anyone else did.
The actress recounted that it was through a woman named Funke that she was connected to Governor Fashola, who wasted no time in providing financial and medical support. According to her, Fashola’s prompt intervention gave her access to the care she desperately needed when her condition had become critical.
“During the kidɲey isṣṣue, actually it was Lagos State that stood there for me,” Nwosu said. “I want to use this opportunity to say thank you to Funke who facilitated my seeing the governor, SAN Fashola. They were the ones who came to my rescue immediately before the Igbos even tried. Thank you to Pius Anyim Pius who was at the Senate then.”
Her statement sheds light on the behind-the-scenes efforts that kept her alive at a time when mlsinformation about her health was widespread in the media. Nwosu had been the subject of several unverified reports claiming she was critically ill and ab@ndoned, but she clarified that help came swiftly from Lagos when she needed it most.
She further explained that Governor Fashola’s intervention went beyond financial assistance. The Lagos State Government ensured that she received the best possible medical care both locally and abroad.
“Governor Fashola did not only send money; he made sure that everything needed for my treatment was provided. I was sh0cked because I never even met him before then,” she said.
