Understanding the Violence in Nigeria

In Nigeria, both Muslims and Christians suffer from violence.

It’s not a war between religions — it’s a complex crisis fueled by terrorism, banditry, and weak governance.

1)- Boko Haram & ISIS-West Africa:
These extremist groups have killed thousands of Muslims who reject their ideology or refuse to join them — as well as Christians and others.

2)-Armed Bandits (mainly in North-West Nigeria):
They are criminal gangs, not religious fighters.
Their motive is money and power, not faith.
They kidnap, loot, raid villages, and demand ransoms — attacking anyone, regardless of religion.

3)-Victims:
Mostly poor rural villagers — farmers, students, travelers — many from Muslim-majority communities.

4)-The violence is not one-sided.
Both Muslims and Christians are innocent victims, caught between terrorists, bandits, militias, and a weak state.

The real issue is ending violence and protecting lives, not pointing fingers at any religion.
