Reports from Sahara Reporters confirm that terrorists launched an attack on travellers along the Eruku–Egbe road in Eruku, Ekiti LGA, Kwara State on Monday, forcing vehicles to stop and commuters to flee into nearby bushes for safety.
Footage from the scene shows several buses and trucks abandoned by the roadside as the attackers remained active into the afternoon. Eyewitnesses have advised motorists to avoid the route until security forces restore order.
This incident follows a similar attack on Sunday along the Ayere–Kabba road in Ijumu LGA, Kogi State, where a commercial bus was ambushed. One passenger was killed, and several others sustained gunshot injuries.
Residents warn that the Ayere–Kabba and Eruku–Egbe corridors are increasingly becoming hotspots for armed attacks, with gangs reportedly operating across Kogi and Kwara States.
Authorities are yet to release a statement on the latest attack, but travellers are urged to remain vigilant and avoid the affected routes.
