Nigerian Man Arrested in New Orleans After stabbing Father to death, Injuring Sisters


A 27-year-old man, Chukwuebuka Eweni, has been taken into custody by New Orleans police following a domestic attack that left his father d+ad and his two sisters inj¥red on Pebble Street.

Family members confirmed to WWL Louisiana that the deceased, Samuel Eweni, was a computer science professor at Southern University at New Orleans. Relatives said that Chukwuebuka attacked his father and sisters on the evening of November 11, 2025. One of the surviving victims has been released from the hospital, while the other remains under treatment but is expected to recover.

According to family accounts, Eweni has struggled with mental illness but has not exhibited v+olent behavior in the past. They described the night of the att@ck as ordinary until he suddenly grabbed a kn+fe, though the motive remains unknown.

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) confirmed that Eweni was later located in Jefferson Parish and is now in law enforcement custody undergoing medical evaluation.

NOPD stated the incident occurred around 9:59 p.m. on November 11 in the 8000 block of Pebble Street. Officers responding to a report of “an aggravated battery by cutting, believed to be domestic in nature” found Samuel Eweni unresponsive with a fatal st+b wo¥nd and two other adult victims with stab inj¥ries.

Detectives have identified Chukwuebuka Eweni as the suspect and have obtained an arrest warrant charging him with one count of second-degree m¥rder and two counts of attempted second-degree m¥rder. Authorities describe him as armed and dangerous.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the official identification of the deceased and the cause of death after completing the autopsy.
