Four Nigerian wrestlers for 6th Islamic Games

The President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, PhD, has extended his support for the Wrestling Contingent as they departed Nigeria ahead of the wrestling event at the ongoing 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The contingent comprising four wrestlers, namely, Mercy Genesis, Damola Ojo, Christianah Ogunsanya, and Esther Kolawole, and coach Purity Akuh, alongside the Secretary General of the Federation, Oluwasegun Ademisoro, left the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Friday.

Admonishing the team before their departure, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi opined that the Federation will keenly follow up on their performances, urging them to put up a spectacular display.

The Customs boss noted that such competitions will test Nigeria’s resolve and progress in its quest for continued global rise at the World Championships and Olympic Games.

The NWF President expressed high expectations for the team to make the President and the entire country proud, reminding the athletes that they are ambassadors of the nation.

“I want you to believe in yourselves and do your best and maintain a high level of discipline to make the President and Nigerians proud,” Adeniyi said.

“We implore you to do your best and ensure that Nigeria’s flag is hoisted in Riyadh victoriously.”
