Severe flooding caused by record-breaking rainfall has devastated central Vietnam this week, leaving at least four people dead and over 100,000 homes submerged, according to the Ministry of Environment.
Since Sunday, coastal provinces including Hue, Danang, and Lam Dong have been hit by relentless downpours, with rainfall reaching an astonishing 1.7 metres (5 feet 7 inches) within just 24 hours — one of the heaviest ever recorded in the region.
Authorities confirmed four fatalities and five missing persons, while more than 150 landslides and the destruction of 2,200 hectares (5,400 acres) of crops have been reported.
Emergency teams are currently working to rescue stranded residents and deliver relief materials to affected communities as waters continue to rise.
