Ajax manager John Heitinga has praised Chelsea, calling them “one of the better teams, not only in the Premier League but also in the Champions League.”
Heitinga made the comment after Ajax suffered a 5–1 defeat to the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Chelsea cruised to victory with goals from Marc Guiu, Moisés Caicedo, Enzo Fernández, Estêvão, and Tyrique George.
Despite the heavy loss, Heitinga insisted Ajax’s game plan worked for parts of the match:
“It was a tough one to take, but the plan was working. It was hard for them to break the lines, and we even had a few good offensive moments.”
Ajax will look to bounce back when they face Twente in the Eredivisie on Sunday.
