Tinubu Called Me”President Sowore”, I Never Thought He Knew Me, He Used Left Hand To Shake me - Sowore

Former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has dismissed suggestions that he shares any personal connection with President Bola Tinubu. During an interview on Seun Okinbaloye’s Mic On Podcast, Sowore revealed that he had never met or spoken with Tinubu before the 2023 pre-election peace committee meeting attended by all presidential candidates.

He explained that the encounter occurred during the meeting when then-President Muhammadu Buhari entered the hall, followed by Tinubu, who at that time was contesting under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Sowore narrated that Tinubu walked in confidently, sat next to him, and greeted him unexpectedly.

According to Sowore, Tinubu smiled at him and said, “President Sowore,” before extending his left hand for a handshake. The activist and politician said he was genuinely surprised because he had never imagined that Tinubu even knew who he was, let alone addressed him in such a familiar manner.

Sharing the moment in his own words, Sowore said, “When Buhari walked in, Tinubu also came and sat beside me. He turned to me and said, ‘President Sowore.’ I never thought he knew me at all. Then he stretched his left hand and shook mine.” Sowore stressed that beyond that meeting, there has never been any form of personal relationship between them.
