The Super Falcons of Nigeria have booked their spot at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a 1-1 draw with the Benin Republic on Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta.
The Nigerian ladies advanced with a 3-1 win on aggregate.
Coach Justine Madugu made one change in the lineup, Asisat Oshoala replaced Chiwendu Ihezuo.
Ashleigh Plumptre gave Nigeria an early lead in the 12th minute with a powerful header from Esther Okoronkwo’s corner kick.
Benin Republic later equalized in the 61st minute through Yasminath Djibril.
The Falcons now look forward to the WAFCON 2026 finals, which will take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, 2026.
