Police arraign fleeing driver who knocked FRSC officer in Ekiti


The police in Ekiti State have arrested a driver identified as Innocent Ibrahim for knocking an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ekiti Sector Command, while trying to evade arrest in Otun-Ekiti, Roundoffnews reports. 

In a statement by SRC Tajudeen Balogun, on behalf of the Ekiti Sector Commander, Sanya Adeoye, stated that the driver, who was identified as a staff of JOMAV & Property Nigeria Ltd had recklessly and dangerously manoeuvred towards one of its offcials, Road Marshal Assistant 1, Vincent Otitoju in an attempt to evade arrest by corps marshals while on patrol on the 23rd October, 2025, in Otun-Ekiti. 

The statement further revealed that the FRSC officer sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital at Otun-Ekiti for first aid where he was later refered to Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti for proper medical care. 

According to the statement, the culprit, who was apprehended and handed over to the police, was taken to the Otun Chief Magistrate Court for arraignment.
  
The police prosecutor charged the case before Magistrate M. Ayedesun and after the hearing the culprit pleaded not guilty and his counsel applied for his bail which was granted by the Magistrate while the case was adjourned to 4th December, 2025.
 
Addressing newsmen, shortly after the arraignment, the Ekiti Sector Commander issued a stern warning to reckless drivers that henceforth the corps will not treat the issue of knock down of its offcials with kid gloves.
