Popular online matchmaker, Maryama, has stirred conversations on social media after advising women never to become second wives to men who are poor or financially struggling.
In a video shared on her official Instagram page on Monday night, October 28, 2025, the Abuja-based matchmaker expressed her disapproval of women who choose to be second wives to men without financial stability.
According to her, if a woman decides to become a second wife, it should be for financial security rather than love or pity. Maryama emphasized that such men should be wealthy “Alhajis” before any woman considers joining their household.
Her statement aligns with the Islamic belief that a man may marry up to four wives, provided he has the means to support them equally.
Maryama accompanied the post with a caption that read: “I said what I said 😳😂 Ladies, make sure you marry for money.”
