Flamingos Return Home After U-17 Women’s World Cup Exit

Nigeria’s Flamingos have returned home after bowing out of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The team, led by coach Bankole Olowookere, arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Friday morning after their journey in the global tournament came to an end.

The girls were knocked out in the Round of 16 following a 4–0 defeat to Italy on Tuesday night.

Despite the loss, the Flamingos put up a spirited performance throughout the competition, securing three wins from four matches.

They suffered early defeats to Canada and France, but bounced back impressively with a 4–0 victory over Samoa in their final group game.

Nigerians across the country have continued to commend the young girls for their courage, teamwork, and determination, urging them to keep their heads high and prepare for a stronger comeback in future tournaments.
