Erigga: Nigerians Value Foreign Artistes More Than Their Own

Nigerian rapper Erigga has voiced his disappointment over how Nigerians often celebrate foreign artistes more than local talents.

Speaking on Yanga FM, the Warri-born rapper said the decision to move the Headies Awards to the United States shows how much Nigerians chase foreign validation instead of supporting their own stars.

“We don’t value our own. Nigerians would rather show 300 people dancing in London than 5,000 people vibing at a concert here in Nigeria,” Erigga said.

He also added that fans sometimes ask him to rap in English, but he prefers to speak the language of the streets because music should represent real people.
