The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised the Kaduna State Police Command for its handling of a violent attack that marred the party’s inauguration ceremony in the state over the weekend.
In a statement on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, accused the police of neglecting their duty to protect ADC members from armed thugs while attempting to “criminalise” the party’s lawful activities.
Abdullahi described the police account of the incident as a “troubling attempt to pre-judge individuals and cast the opposition as lawless,” insisting that ADC expected reassurance of justice, not a narrative that undermined its legitimacy.
