Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) gubernatorial candidate in Jigawa State for the 2023 general election, has claimed that former Governor Sule Lamido is primarily responsible for the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), rather than Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Ringim made this statement in response to the recent comments by the former Governor of Jigawa State at a party gathering in Kirikasamma Local Government Area.
The former Governor, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated that he will stay within the party while also supporting the Coalition, ADC, in the forthcoming elections.
In an interview with BBC Hausa, Lamido expressed his willingness to collaborate with the coalition in an effort to oust Tinubu's government in the forthcoming general elections.
However, Sule Lamido stated that he would not be leaving his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Instead, he intends to support ADC in a manner similar to what Nyeson Wike and Otom did for the APC during the 2023 general elections.
While commenting, Ringim mentioned that Wike is replicating the actions of the former Governor, who was responsible for masterminding the PDP's failure in 2015.
He observed that Wike's actions are reminiscent of the former governor's, who did exactly the same thing during the PDP convention in 2013 before the general election in 2015.
He explained that Wike faced unjust treatment from the PDP leaders and is now seeking revenge.
Mr. Ringim stated that due to the actions of the former Governor, the PDP lost Kwankwaso and Wike, resulting in a total loss of around seven governors for the party—two associated with Kwankwaso (from Kano and Jigawa) and five linked to Wike.
"If the PDP had won these states in 2015, no one would be discussing the APC now. Therefore, you are responsible for PDP's issues, not Wike; he is merely following your lead and replicating what you did before."
He stated, "You mentioned that Wike would not expel you from the party. However, he is now retaliating against you with divine assistance as retribution for the injustice committed against him."
"You expelled Wike and Kwankwaso; how many states did the PDP lose because of that, aside from those who were expelled nationwide?"
In the past, almost everyone in Jigawa State belonged to the PDP, including Ibrahim Saminu Tiraki, Ahmad Muhammad, Bello Maitama, Sabo Nakudu, Ubali Shiru, Ambassador Malam Madori-Ojo-Ubali Hashim and myself along with other prominent politicians.
"Ringim remarked, 'However, due to your behavior causing everyone to leave, what you did is actually worse than Wike’s current actions.'"
