Veteran Nollywood actress Moji Afolayan revealed that she was sidelined in the movie industry because she refused to exchange s.e.x for roles. Despite being married to fellow actor Ojopagogo, some marketers accused her husband of being overprotective. Moji clarified that he never stopped her from acting. She chose to maintain her dignity, which she believes sets her apart, even though it meant losing opportunities that others gained through compromising their values.
According to Moji Afolayan, she said, "I have only produced one movie since I joined the movie industry in 1985. There was a time when marketers gave money to actress to produce movies for them, but because I can't offer my body for movie roles, they decided not to give me money to work for them. Despite the fact that they know that my husband is also an actor, they will even say that my husband is overprotecting me. I'm happy that I was able to reject their advances towards me because that's what makes me stand out right now.
Some actresses that agreed to be in a relationship with the marketers succeeded in getting famous, but they became enemies when they wanted to stand on their own. I didn't tell my husband about the marketers behavior towards me, but he's not the one that stopped me from film making as people are insinuating. I didn't allow them to have s.e.x with me, so they stopped giving me roles."
