Rosemond Obeng, once closely aligned with former NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has officially been appointed as a Senior Presidential Staffer under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, according to a report by MyNewsGh.
Rosemond’s political pivot drew national attention when she dramatically resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC) just days before the crucial December 2024 general election.
Her public criticism of the NPP, and particularly of her former boss, Dr. Bawumia, stirred controversy within the political space.
Following her defection, she launched a media campaign that openly challenged the leadership style of the then NPP flagbearer, raising eyebrows about her sudden shift in loyalty.
Her move was met with harsh criticism from the NPP, where she was labelled a “betrayer,” especially given her role as a former National TESCON Coordinator—a significant grassroots position in the party's student wing.
Now serving in the Jubilee House, Rosemond Obeng holds a key position in the Office of the Minister for Government Communications, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
