There are rumours flying everywhere that our country's Vice President is allegedly going to join the coalition party, ADC as soon as the President drops him as his running mate come 2027.
The speech allegedly made by the Vice President at the book launch of the former Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, titled OPL 245, where Kashim Shettima allegedly stated that former President Jonathan almost removed him from office as governor of Bornu State save for the advice of the former Attorney General of the Federal, Mohammed Adoke and other well meaning Nigerians has allegedly shøt him in the foot!
Shettima allegedly questioned the rational behind removing a constitutionally elected governor from office, which has gone far to generate questions surrounding His Excellency, Sim Fubara's, (Rivers State governor) unconstitutional removal from office by the President.
Trust Nigerians, they have read meanings to the alleged statement made by the Vice President.
Some are saying that the Vice President wasn't in support of Governor Fubara's removal while the drama lasted.
While some are saying that the vice president is allegedly not on the the same page with the president when it comes to burning national issues, but has no choice other than to remain silent.
NOTE: If it's true that Mohammed Adoke stopped his boss, GEJ, as Attorney General, from removing Shettima from office as governor and he truly wasn't removed, it means that former President Jonathan had a listening ear as President.
BIG QUESTION: Is the present Attorney General of the Federation giving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sound pieces of advice just like this one from Adoke? Or he is trying his best but the President doesn't heed his advice?
What came to my mind after reading Shettima's alleged statement was Mr Lateef Fagbems', (the present Attorney General of the Federations) bold stance against governors who arbitrarily remove elected Local Government Chairmen from office. Chief Fagbems tried his best possible to deter governors from lording it over LG Chairmen from sacking them at little or no provocation because they don't have the constitutional powers to do so. He tried to no avail without the support of Mr President.
As we write this piece, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Edo State governor has chased away elected Local Government Chairmen with thugs out of their offices and made his cronies (councillors) their replacements! Is Nigeria now a banana republic? Is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not aware of this or he is deliberately dancing on the tomb of the nation's constitution he swore to uphold?
The days ahead would be so interesting. Only time will tell if Shettima would dump the ruling political party, APC for ADC.
If he does, it would be a big plus for the ADC. In short, Shettima is a big fish politically!
We are watching as 2027 political dramas unfold.
