PSG have been dealt a major setback ahead of their Club World Cup semi-final clash against Real Madrid, as FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has officially suspended defenders Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez for two matches in the tournament.
Both Pacho and Lucas Hernandez ruled out of semi-final and potential final/3rd place match.
PSG still have the right to appeal, but time is tight with the semi-final looming.
As it stands, only Marquinhos and Beraldo are available as natural centre-backs:
Marquinhos – captain and key leader at the back.
Beraldo – promising but relatively inexperienced at this level.
No senior backup CBs currently available in the squad.
PSG may have to reshuffle tactics possibly bringing in Danilo Pereira or Mukiele as emergency options in central defence.
The situation significantly boosts Real Madrid’s attacking edge, with the likes of VinÃcius Jr., Rodrygo, and Bellingham likely to target the weakened backline.
