China's quantum radar just tracked stealth aircraft at 350 kilometers without a single radio signal



Stealth aircraft are designed to vanish from radar — but China may have just flipped the script. In a military research facility near Chengdu, physicists successfully tracked a stealth drone flying at 350 km using quantum radar — without emitting a single traditional radio wave.

This system uses entangled microwave photons that behave like a sixth sense. Unlike conventional radar, which blasts signals and waits for a return, quantum radar relies on quantum “ghost imaging” — where the presence of an object disrupts an entangled particle pair, even if the object tries to absorb or deflect signals.

What makes this terrifyingly effective is that stealth coatings, which scatter or absorb radio waves, are useless here. Quantum radar doesn’t need signal reflection — it detects changes in the entangled field itself. The results? A radar signature of the drone was reconstructed even though it was coated with full-spectrum stealth polymer.

Developed by a collaboration between the University of Science and Technology of China and a defense lab, this is the first time such quantum detection has worked over a long range, in real atmospheric conditions.

If scaled, this could spell the end of stealth warfare. Traditional invisibility tech won’t hide objects from quantum detection. It’s not about signal strength — it’s about entanglement, and that can’t be blocked.

China’s move into quantum warfare is accelerating — and this radar could be the start of a whole new era.
